When Time came calling on the old man’s door,
He did not realise that he was very poor.
For he had travelled all around the world,
Through the universe with time unfurled.
Many had seen him make mistakes
Fall in love, and then see heart breaks.
Most are blind to what the old man saw,
Far away, beyond his old front door.
Life, you see, is more than Love,
More than an emotional shove.
It is the colours of all men’s goals,
It is the existence of all our souls.
More beautiful than the Suns light,
And darker than the deepest night.
It’s for our souls that most men fight,
To keep them shining, ever bright.
No time would ever take from him,
The souls he saw, how broad, how thin.
Now would you say, when time comes for you
That you have seen a person’s soul too?
The beauty that no vista can compare,
To see a soul, your journey there.
For you may travel across the globe,
Through dawn light and night’s dark robe.
And nothing you see will compare,
To a pure soul laid clear and bare.
This is what the old man said,
When time came to take his head.
If you ever look inside too,
You will say that it is true.
